Summary of Projects (College level)
Enhancements
to popular Open source game Stellar Crisis using XML, XSLT and SVG:
Presently
working on modifying existing modules and adding enhancements to the popular
open source game, Stellar Crisis. The project involves two modules: generation
of stellar maps; and highlighting a player’s ships amongst others using
XML-SVG transformations using XSLT.
Designed
and developed an online, web based auction management system built on EBay’s
popular auction model. The project involved responsibilities like database
design, database normalization, query design,
performance tuning and front-end development. Used Java technologies (JSP,
Servlets, JDBC, Tomcat) at the middle layer, and PostgreSQL as the backend
database.
Developed
a three hundred-page travel portal for a large Indian travel agency catering to
hospitality and entertainment industry, and comprising of several data centric
dynamic web applications such as hotel selector wizard, dynamic tour package
advisor, and content management system.
Developed
a freeware WordPad like text editor using JFC Swing, having features like
floating toolbars, customizable backgrounds etc. Project featured in “Popular
Downloads” on CNET and ZDNET.
Designed
and developed a GUI based ‘Outlook Express’ like email client, which
communicates with SMTP and POP servers using Java Networking API, and allows
users to compose, send and retrieve their emails from an external server. The
tool was based on RFC 1939, RFC 821.
Designed
and implemented a Round Robin Process Scheduler which reads a number of tasks to
be run from a configuration file and manages the resource allocation based on
configuration parameters such as time slice, task priority etc. Project also
implemented a SVR4 Inter Process Communication based file-transferring utility
that made use of UNIX pipes, Message Queues, and Shared Memory.
Designed and implemented a simple client server chat system that allowed several clients to connect to a chat server and exchange messages using Windows Sockets API.
